Jeep Wrangler 4xe Recalled Due To Bizarre Odometer Failure

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is being recalled due to an issue with the odometer.

The automaker has revealed that some Wrangler 4xe models are equipped with digital instrument cluster software that may prevent the odometer from displaying after it hits 13,342 miles or 21,437 km.

The issue took place between September 8, 2020 and September 13, 2021, when vehicles on the production line received a suspect software service update. Jeep fixed the issue with a new gauge cluster software version that was implemented into vehicle production but a total of 2,903 Wranglers are now involved in the recall and all of them are thought to have the issue.

A recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that if the odometer value is not displayed, owners may miss critical vehicle maintenance periods, increasing the likelihood of components failing due to a lack of maintenance, heightening the risk of a crash.

To fix the issue, the automaker will update the software on vehicles with less than 13,342 miles (21,473 km) on the clock while those vehicles that have already passed this figure will be fitted with new gauge clusters. It has also been confirmed that any owner that has had the gauge cluster replaced due to the issue will be reimbursed.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles U.S. will begin notifying owners on or around January 28, 2022.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Pricing Allegedly Leaked, Starts At $77,055

Unveiled last month and set to go on sale in the United States early the next year, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is the most powerful Wrangler on sale – and we might have just has received word on its pricing.

The following screenshot came via a member of the JLWranglerForums, who claims that ‘27X’ is the code for the ‘392’ package, revealing the price of the Hemi V8-powered Wrangler: $77,055. If correct, that would make it almost $35,000 pricier than the regular Wrangler Rubicon. The base variant meanwhile has an MSRP of $28,315.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392 is powered by a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 shared with other FCA products, including the Grand Cherokee SRT, Dodge Durango and the Challenger and Charger duo. The engine produces 470 HP and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, enabling a 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint of 4.5 seconds and a quarter mile in 13 seconds.

Riding 2 inches (5 cm) higher than the regular Wrangler, it has a ground clearance of 10.3 inches (26 cm) and a 32.5 in (82.5 cm) fording depth. It also features a special suspension set-up, rides on 17-inch wheels shod in 33-inch A/T tires from BFGoodrich, and has a functional hood scoop, 392 badging and quad tailpipes. Customers will also be able to spec it with several accessories from Mopar when it officially launches.

Demon-Powered Two-Door Jeep Wrangler Will Blow Your Socks Off

The new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 packs a 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) and is certainly no slouch. However, it pales in comparison to this Wrangler that’s outfitted with FCA’s 6.2-liter supercharged Demon V8.

This particular Wrangler came to life through RubiTrux in North Carolina and thanks to the new Demon engine, churns out an incredible 808 hp and 717 lb-ft (972 Nm) of torque. Making this particular example all the more impressive is the fact that it is a short-wheelbase, two-door Wrangler which should make driving it a bit more… interesting.

Indeed, in a promotional clip for the off-roader, RubiTrux shows just how accelerative it is off the line and the burnouts it can do without breaking sweat. It also happens to sound truly demonic and while it may not look very different than a Wrangler fresh off the factory floor, the sound alone will let other motorists around you know that this thing is far from stock.

In addition to fitting the Demon engine, RubiTrux manufactured a billet machined transfer case adapter to ensure everything works together as it should. The off-roader has also been equipped with a lift kit, Fuel off-road wheels with 37-inch tires, and a unique front bumper that houses a winch.

It’s unclear how much RubiTrux charges for a conversions like this, but having the company slot a 707 HP Hellcat powertrain into the Wrangler costs a cool $58,850.

Jeep Offers Free Vibrant Color Upgrades To UK Wrangler Buyers In Order To Lift Spirits

With research showing that colors can dramatically affect a person’s mood, Jeep has decided to offer free paint upgrades to UK buyers who want to pick a vibrant color for their Wrangler.

The offer is valid only via participating dealers until September 30th. It applies to a range of Wrangler colors, including Firecracker red, Punk’d Metallic orange, HellaYella yellow and Bikini metallic blue.

“People often think of color as just a visual stimulus, but it also creates psychological changes, altering how someone feels in an instant,” says color psychologist Karen Haller. “It is thought people are only 20 percent conscious of the color choices they make, when in reality it influences everything people do – from what people buy and eat to how people relax and most importantly how people feel.”

As for how these vibrant colors are supposed to make you feel, it would seem that Firecracker red can give drivers an instant energy boost and helps you stand out in a crowd of cars – which is technically true, given how bright it is.

Orange meanwhile is a color that expresses joy, while yellow will supposedly leave you feeling full of optimism and positivity. It’s also the most visible color in daylight, more so even than red. As for Bikini metallic blue, this is an easy one: blue is arguably “the world’s favorite color,” because of its association with a warm tropical sea.

“Wrangler is an iconic car built to have a positive impact on people’s lives. The introduction of a free color offer means we can now harness the joy of Wrangler even further,” said Jeep UK exec Damien Dally. “Hopefully it will lead to more of our cars on the roads in HellaYella yellow or Punk’n metallic, which will not only have a positive impact on the driver and their passengers, but also on those who see them driving by.”
